All Canadian travelers should carry travel insurance. But, while many Canadians have some coverage through a group benefit plan or on their credit card, coverage is often inadequate. To ensure our customers have comprehensive financial coverage for unexpected circumstances like trip delays or hospital expenses, 24-hour support, and assistance from a team of travel experts, we have partnered with Allianz Global Assistance.
Why Buy Travel Insurance?
When you're traveling, the last thing you need is the expense of emergency medical attention. Travel Insurance from Allianz Global Assistance takes away this worry! We offer a variety of travel insurance options to help you and your family while traveling away from home. We ensure that you're prepared and, if necessary, cared for. Can you really afford to be without travel insurance?
Canadian residents and visitors to Canada are often responsible for paying costly medical fees resulting from unexpected sickness or injury while traveling. Consider just a few of the costs you may incur if you have an accident or become sick:
- $10,000 per night accommodation (typical inpatient costs at US hospital)
- $4,300 per night to accommodate visiting friends or relatives (non-resident fees for a Canadian intensive care unit)
- $2,000 airfare (cost of an unexpected flight home)
Travel insurance covers you for these costs and much more
If you are a Canadian you may be surprised to learn that your government health insurance plan has limits for medical expenses incurred while traveling outside of your home province. Did you know that even within Canada, if you have an accident or fall sick while visiting another province, not all the costs associated with your medical care are covered by your provincial health plan. If you are visiting Canada or returning without government insurance, it is wise to protect yourself against the unexpected with emergency hospital and medical insurance.
It is always important to know who to call when the unexpected occurs. With our travel insurance solution help is just a phone call away, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, no matter where in the world you are.

What am I Covered For?
Coverage is different for each plan; to find out what your coverage is, please read the section titled ‘Benefits’ of the policy you want to purchase. You can find our plan policies in the "our travel insurance policies" section below. Travel insurance is intended to cover losses arising from sudden, unexpected, and unforeseeable circumstances.
What am I Not Covered For?
Travel insurance does not cover everything. Your insurance has exclusions, conditions and limitations. You should carefully read and understand your policy before you travel. Pre-existing medical conditions may be excluded. Any medical condition and/or symptoms you are aware of prior to the effective date, whether diagnosed or not, may not be covered.
To find out exactly what you are covered for and what is not covered, please review the policy of your selected plan below.
